This year marks my 40th year playing the drums. I must tell you all that this fact stops me in my tracks! It’s been an incredible ride. I also realized that I’d learned a great deal about music during that time and I also simultaneously learned how little I know in the grand scheme of things. I guess the latter truth is what pushes me to keep searching for more information! However, I have accomplished something that I have wanted to do for many years. I have created educational material, in the form of an online course, for those who wish to understand the principles of drumset performance. You can find it at https://join.aubreydrumlessons.com.

Over the last 15 years, I have had a drum studio where I have taught hundreds of students. In that time I have been able to streamline my teaching methods to cover four main aspects of drumset performance. These aspects include the mastery of tempo, Technique, building up of one’s groove vocabulary, and playing with an ensemble. I have created what I call the four “drumset labs” that explore each of these aspects in depth. There are a total of 7 hours of video footage as well as booklets that accompany each exercise that is in the footage.

Learning in this way does offer one major challenge. It is impossible to ask me questions as they come up. My solution is to click on the following link and join the Aubrey Drum Lessons Facebook group. You can ask questions there, and I’ll help you out there as quickly as possible. You can also contact me directly by filling out the contact form on the https://join.aubreydrumlessons.com page, and I’ll get back to you ASAP.

It’s a very new thing for me to put myself and my teaching material out in the world in this way. I know that there are many things that I will need to improve upon, so that why I encourage you all to let me know what you think of my approach.

Please try to do with love thou, Ok? 🙂
